Life With Grace | June 6

Updated: Jun 7

A group of people gather outdoors under a large red umbrella on a stone patio for a casual event. Most are seated around a rectangular table enjoying food and drinks. One person stands, wearing a green cape and a flower crown, speaking to the group and holding a pamphlet. Floral decorations and a cheerful atmosphere suggest a celebratory or themed gathering. The backdrop includes festive guitar-themed banners on a brick wall and trees in the background.
Our Renewing Grace Capital Campaign house parties are off to a great start!

Dear friends,

Happy Pentecost!  This Sunday we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit with the baptism of Henry Squires at the 10:30 service.

One of the customs of Pentecost is to wear something red as a sign of the fire of the Spirit, which is the fire of divine love made known in the mode of forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace.

The Peace that Jesus leaves with us as the enduring sign of his presence is different from the peace of the world.  The peace of Christ is made through the gratuitous forgiveness offered by the persecuted to the penitent persecutor.  No punishment, vengeance, or judgment is threatened.

From the crucified and risen Jesus comes the birth of a new people founded on forgiving our enemies, rather than on conquering or destroying or expelling them.  Let's do it.  Share, keep, pass the Peace of Christ as Christ has shred, kept, and passed his peace with us.

And let's help Henry, and all our children learn and grow into the full stature of  forgiveness and the way of the Prince of Peace, the stone rejected by the world, but the chief cornerstone and hope for the salvation of the world.

With Gratitude, Tuck Bowerfind (he/him)
